- Allows full control of djay on iOS devices via professional analog turntables using special time code vinyl
- Two turntables and an iPhone - Bypasses the need for laptops, computers, or hard-drives in the DJ booth
- DJs can now connect their iOS device directly to their mixing system, optimized user interface automatically adapts when DJ hardware is connected
MUNICH, Germany, May 31, 2022 - Algoriddim today unveiled a major update to djay Pro AI on Mac, iPad, and iPhone which introduces a next-level AI based Digital Vinyl System (DVS), enabling DJs to power their entire performance through their iPhone or iPad while using professional analog turntables and mixers.
After the groundbreaking introduction of artificial intelligence to the DJ booth with Algoriddim’s patented Neural MixTM technology, Algoriddim continues to lead the evolution of DJ technology by placing the iPhone center stage.
“djay on iOS has empowered millions of music enthusiasts around the world to embrace the art of DJing.” said Karim Morsy, CEO at Algoriddim. “When it comes to professional setups, historically the DJ booth has been dominated by laptops standing between the artist and the crowd. The immense processing power of recent iPhones and iPads has allowed us to reinvent djay on mobile devices and fundamentally transform the workflow of DJs. You can now take the stage - anywhere, anytime - using your ultra portable iOS device connected to physical DJ turntables and mixers.”
By working closely with some of the world’s top DJs, including award-winning turntablist DJ Angelo, Algoriddim has also carefully adapted djay’s user interface to perfectly complement any connected hardware and provide a unique blend of tactile and touch based control. Moreover, djay’s audio engine has been fine tuned for digital vinyl control to offer the tightest scratching, most accurate time-stretching, and lowest latency possible.
“Breakthroughs like this don’t come along very often in the DJ space”, said world champion turntablist DJ Angelo. “To be part of its development alongside the amazing minds at Algoriddim has been truly inspiring - both as an artist and tech enthusiast. What excites me most is that my iPhone - rather than my bulky laptop - is now a viable option for my gigs. It blows my mind how far technology has come since first discovering turntablism as a young bedroom DJ in the 90s. My excitement today feels just like it did back then, and I can't wait to see how these new possibilities with mobile devices impact DJ culture as a whole.”
New DVS format - Neural MixTM Vinyl
Also being introduced for the first time, new patent-pending Neural MixTM Vinyl pushes the boundary of DVS technology, offering isolated stems for any song right on the B-side of the control vinyl. Users can simply drop the needle of the analog turntable onto one of three distinct tracks on the physical record to play either the original song, its instrumental version, or the acapella - just like on a 12” single from back in the day. This feature is powered by an enhanced DVS control tone exclusive to djay Pro AI which has a unique control data stream imprinted into the grooves of each of the three distinct sections of the vinyl. This drives the patented Neural MixTM technology running on Mac, iPad, or iPhone, using cutting-edge artificial intelligence to separate any song into its original components in real-time.
Algoriddim has worked closely on this new vinyl format with STOKYO, a leading Japan based manufacturer of vinyl. STOKYO’s extensive experience in the field and relentless devotion to quality can all be experienced on the new djay Control Vinyl.
“It’s been a journey and we are honored and thankful to have the opportunity to release our newest vinyl with our great friends at Algoriddim who we have known since their humble beginnings. From our team of DJs, engineers, material experts, and many more involved, we are finally able to call this the perfect vinyl for DJs. DJs be ready!” said Charles Ono, CEO at STOKYO.
djay Pro AI with DVS and Neural MixTM Vinyl will be showcased at the Reloop and Technics booths at this year’s NAMM show, June 3-5 in Anaheim, Los Angeles.
Other features in this major update to djay include:
- Streaming Playlist Editing - Edit and create TIDAL, SoundCloud, Beatport, and Beatsource playlists on the fly, from within djay.
- AI Audio Effects - A first-of-its-kind suite of audio effects for DJs to use during performances
- UI Refresh - Carefully adjusted user interface provides intuitive control of all the new features and adapts seamlessly with whichever hardware DJs choose to connect.
